Abdomen. Peritoneum, Omentum, Intestines, Mesenteric Glands, Spleen.--Normal. Liver.--Slightly pale, but otherwise normal. Hepatic Glands.--One of the hepatic glands was distinctly swollen, and measured 1 in. by f in. It contained numerous yellowish opaque points scattered throughout the cortex, as well as a little caseous patch. Another gland, apparently not enlarged, contained a small caseous focus. A third, about as large as a bean, had the greater part of the cortex oaseating. Kidneys, Lumbar Glands, Iliac Glands.--Normal. Thorax. Pleura.--Normal. Lungs.--On the diaphragmatic aspect of the left lung was a single lobule J in. by J in. It was solid and congested and showed a grey mottling, but no definite sign of tubercle. Inoculation of an emulsion of this pneumonic focus into a guinea-pig produced tuberculosis. The lungs were otherwise normal. Thoracic Glands.--Were not enlarged. They were congested, but not otherwise abnormal. Pericardium, Heart.--Normal. Special Glands. Prescapular.--The right measured 2 in. by 1 in. It was swollen, but there was no sign of tubercle. The left measured 2J in. by J in., and was similar to the right. Prepectoral, Pectoral, Axillary, Ischiatic, Precrural, Olwteal, Popliteal, Submaxillary, Parotideal, Pharyngeal.--Normal. Tongue, Palate, Tonsils, Pharynx.--Normal. Microscopical Examination. Emulsion of Hepatic Gland.--Tubercle bacilli fairly numerous, about one in every field; rather short.
